Coffee For A Cure And Corey McMullen Leukemia Fund

.

Friday, November 5, the Los Angeles Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society honored 12 Los Angeles men and women who made a significant difference in the lives of those fighting leukemia and lymphoma related diseases. Among those honored were Mitch and Kyle McMullen who assisted these dedicated individuals, in raising a total $291,836.00, in this year’s annual Man & Woman of the Year fundraiser. All these funds were raised throughout the months of September and October.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is a national voluntary health agency dedicated to curing leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma and also focus on improving the quality of life for patients and their families. Today, the Society supports research, patient services, public and professional education, advocacy and community services.

For the past 3 years the McMullen brothers have raised money in honor of their brother Corey McMullen who died of leukemia in 1987 at the age of 21.

Newhall Coffee would like to thank everyone who worked tirelessly to assist in raising these much needed funds, with a community carwash, pie-throwing contest, BBQ, wine tasting event, and the sales of specifically designated Newhall Coffee Roasting Company coffees under the banner of Coffee For A Cure.

“We can’t thank our community enough for their tremendous fund-raising efforts on behalf of the Corey McMullen Leukemia Fund,” said Kyle McMullen. “We send out a special thanks to The Valencia Auto Spa, Saltcreek Grille, and especially our employees who rose to the occasion and helped us raise our part of the $291,836.00 raised this year.”

According to the McMullen brothers, their next Corey McMullen Leukemia fund-raising efforts will take place in the fall of 2005.
